Mexico which is now caught between the culture of the drug cartels, and a lawless atmosphere that may never be eliminated, may surrender to the mores that has become so inbred within their system.
Drugs as we all know are big business but just how big has never been defined.
Mexico is only one country out of 20 that caters to the Hugh profits and international demand. They bring such a high profit that even our intelligence agency is invested heavily both financially and immorally. But how and why have we allowed this to happen? It’s all about money!
And as most countries both big and small require money of some sort several countries are now part of this illicit culture. And many that should have been stopped by the US physical presence still continue their profitable harvest.
Defining a Major drug producing country:
A major illicit drug producing country is one in which:
(A) 1,000 hectares or more of illicit opium poppy is cultivated or harvested during a year;
(B) 1,000 hectares or more of illicit coca is cultivated or harvested during a year; or
(C) 5,000 hectares or more of illicit cannabis is cultivated or harvested during a year,
A major drug-transit country is one:
(A) that is a significant direct source of illicit narcotic or psychotropic drugs or other controlled substances significantly affecting the United States; or
(B) through which are transported such drugs or substances.
The following major illicit drug producing and/or drug-transit countries were identified for the US Congress by the President on September 15, 2009, consistent with section 706(1) of the Foreign Relations Authorization Act, (Public Law 107-228):
Afghanistan, The Bahamas, Bolivia, Brazil, Burma, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Laos, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela.
Of these 20 countries, Burma, Bolivia, and Venezuela were designated by the President as having “failed demonstrably” during the previous 12 months to adhere to their obligations under international counternarcotics agreements and take the measures set forth in section 489(a)(1) of the FAA.
The President determined, however, in accordance with provisions of Section 706(3)(A) of the FRAA, that a vital national interest waiver permits funding to Bolivia and Venezuela for programs critical to our vital national interest.
Could that interest be an uninterrupted flow of drugs into the US?
The following countries and jurisdictions have been identified to be major sources of precursor or essential chemicals used in the production of illicit narcotics: Note the US is on this list!
Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Germany, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States
A major money laundering country is defined by statute as one “whose financial institutions engage in currency transactions involving significant amounts of proceeds from international narcotics trafficking.”
This year’s list of major money laundering countries recognizes this relationship by including all countries and other jurisdictions, whose financial institutions engage in transactions involving significant amounts of proceeds from all serious crime. The following countries/jurisdictions have been identified this year in this category: Note the US is also on this list!
Afghanistan, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Burma, Cambodia, Canada, Cayman Islands, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Guernsey, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Isle of Man, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jersey, Kenya, Latvia, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe.
Does anyone really believe there is a war on drugs?

Media reports here in Islamabad have claimed that United Nations withheld a document lauding Pakistan’s non-proliferation efforts for two years. The document that was released earlier this month supported Pakistan’s steps towards non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The note states that `since October 2005, the Government of Pakistan has taken a number of steps to further strengthen controls over goods, technologies, materials and equipment related to weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery`.
The note verbale number S/AC 44/2007/19 was scheduled to be released on June 3, 2008, but, it was released on August 3, 2010.
Analysts in Pakistan are speculating that whether it was the US pressure or other powerful individuals in the UN bureaucracy like Ban Ki-moon’s Chief of Staff Vijay Nambiar. It is believed that Vijay was also influential in the amusing disownment of UN Secretary General’s statement on Kashmir.
Who ever caused the delay one thing is sure that due to it Pakistan earned much of the uncalled for mudslinging regarding the so-called vulnerability of Pakistan’s nuclear programme.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai said that there is no formal peace process with the Taliban. However he confessed that individual contacts were there with some elements of the Islamic group.
“That’s not yet a formal process,” he noted. “The road map is clear. The indications for peace would be that Afghanistan will be ready to talk to those Taliban powers who belong to Afghanistan and are not part of al-Qaeda, who are not part of any other terrorist network, who accept the Afghanistan Constitution and the progress that we have achieved in the past so many years.”
Karzai acknowledged that talks were also possible with the members of the Taliban willing to return to a normal civilian life and who are not connected to any foreign body outside of Afghanistan.
While speaking about the outside security contractors in Afghanistan, Karzai said, “I am appealing to the U.S. taxpayer not to allow their hard-earned money to be wasted on groups that are not only providing lots of inconveniences to the Afghan people but actually are, God knows, in contact with Mafia-like groups and perhaps also funding militants and insurgents and terrorists through those funds.”

India has added to the Pakistani flood misery by releasing water in River Ravi without prior notification.
A massive water deluge is possible as India has released 18,000 cusecs of water. The local administration has been put on high alert in the Narowal and Sialkot districts while 170 villages have been evacuated. There are already 27,000 cusec flowing in the water, according to officials.
The United Pakistan Farmers Council’s Ayub Khan Mayo said, “The Pakistani Government should reconsider the decision to accept the offer for $5 million (U.S. dollars) in Indian aid and have things clarified as to whether New Delhi is offering aid for the flood victims or giving compensation for expected flood devastation after releasing water in Ravi.”
Since independence, it has always been routine for the Indians to release flood water into the river without giving prior notification, causing loss of property and lives. Pakistan has just accepted Indian aid for flood victims amid U.S. pressure.

More than half of the people that responded to a new poll in the United States disapprove of President Barack Obama’s job performance.
The Gallup poll tracked Obama’s disapproval rating at 51 percent - a new high. The poll shows that only 42 percent approved of Obama’s performance in the White House.
Gallup says that U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter all experienced job approval numbers as low or lower in the Augusts of their second years in office, noting that such ratings are typical of tough economic times. The official U.S. unemployment rate has been stuck at 9.5 percent since June and is expected to worsen this fall.
Obama’s approval rating was at 46 percent and his disapproval rating at 47 percent on August 9th. By Friday of last week, Gallup found that his three-day approval rating had slipped to 43 percent and his disapproval rating had climbed to 48 percent.
Gallup’s editor-in-chief said that may be due to the controversial issue of the Mosque near Ground Zero.
The tracking poll is a rolling average of 1,500 Americans surveyed over a three-day period, with a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.
